As a mom in business, you do know that you have the skills and the qualifications to start offering service (or products) to people and make money while at it.
Now, how will you convince clients that you know what you are doing!
1. have a portfolio, right? or a prototype of the product!
to build up this portfolio (or product), you will need to spend time and money! If you are offering a service, then you will need to either give huge discount to get initial clients or just showcase your ability.
2. Have a website! this is one of the most important business assets that you need to have. you can showcase your portfolio online, get credibility for your own business and get clients from the Internet world. - there are a lot of companies that compete for your project. This means that you can get the best offer out there, if you do your homework. The best offer, however, doesn't mean the least priced. You need to make sure that the company listens to your needs, has a strong portfolio and success stories and that it can deliver! you can always get in touch with its clients to ask them about the company's services.
3. Branding! yes, you need to have a logo, slogan, letter headers (for all your paper work) ...etc. When you brand, you make a statement that you are committed to your business and you are a serious business woman. Now a days, branding is not expensive at all.
4. Get out there! Network as much as you can. check out the leading groups around you. Shop for the right one. Ask them if you can attend one of their meetings for free so that you can decide if it is the right group for you or not. While you are at it, make sure to distribute your business cards and you will never know what is stored for you.
TIP: it is a good idea to have your photo on your card so that people (potential clients) can remember you when they come across your card in the future! remember, you will be visiting their group once (unless you join them) , so make sure to make a memorable, positive impression!
